It’s time for the First Annual Godshack Chili Cook-off! Interested in competing? Contact Chris Michaels at: chrisamichaels [at] gmail.com
Below are the event rules if you forget to contact him:
All preparation for the Godshack Chili Cook-off must be from scratch. Scratch means starting with raw meat, vegetables and regular spices. Canned beans, tomatoes and sauce are allowed.
Chili should be prepared in a 4-6 qt crock pot, or appropriate cooker, which should be plugged-in or heated on premises before serving at 12 noon. If you need one, we can ask fellow church members for sourcing.
Accouterments (e.g., Cheese, Green Onion, Jalapenos, hot sauce, Sour Creme) will be made available at a central condiment station for individual attendee use – and should NOT be added on individual servings.
Servings should be made in a heat-resistant 6 oz cup (coffee cup), so that there’s enough to go around.
Attendees will each be given three colored Popsicle sticks, each for Hottest, best flavor and originality. At the judging table (designated on-site for voting), attendees will place their colored Popsicle sticks in the boxes marked with the contestant’s names.
Accounting of scores will be conducted by members of the Church Board. If a board member is a contestant, than his or her seat may be substituted by a non-competing member of the leadership team (ministry lead or teaching team member).
Winners of each category will be given a custom Godshack Chili Cook Off Champion apron. If one person wins multiple categories, he may choose to share any additional prizes.
Second place winners of each category, will be given the “First Loser” belt, which will be decorated by children’s ministry.
